(Every week or so (ideally) the Guam Museum will be sharing something in the CHamoru language about our history, culture and folklore. This week we’ll share a chant performed by Pa’a Taotao Tåno’, known today as PIPIT.)

Fanachu mañe’lu-hu, ya ta setbe i taotao-ta,

i man ma’pos, i pa’go yan i manmamaila

Na’metgot i, anitin-miyu,

sa’ tinulaikan tiempo, gi tano’-ta

Mungnga maleffa, ni’ minaså’pet,

 i sinenten ta chule’, i fue’tsan animo

i dinanña’-ta, na’ta fanachu,

i yumulong-ta, na siempre hit mambasnak

Hasso famagu’on, kinalamten i taotao-ta,

put sigi mo’na, para todu i tiempo

Hasso i chi’up ha’åni,

sa’ chumilong, yan i pupuengi.
